Planning a Trip

Leyla and Ismail Saltuk enjoying the peaks at Rocky Mountain National Park

We thought we'd provide some recommendations for restaurants, hotels, and attractions for people who want to visit Denver. There are many wonderful sites to see and of course many mountains to ski! You may also want to consider visiting some of the beautiful towns and cities like Boulder, Golden, and Colorado Springs as well as exploring downtown Denver.

Hotels

Warwick Hotel

1776 Grant Street
Denver, CO 80203
phone: 303.861.2000
fax: 303.832.0320

This is the hotel we reserved for our wedding guests. We loved the location, the service, and the rooms. The hotel is also only a few blocks from the pedestrian shopping mall, restaurants, and bars. You can easily get around downtown without a car using taxis, the complimentary Warwick Hotel car, and the free shuttle down 16th Street. We have stayed in this hotel and highly recommend it. This hotel features the following ammenities:

  • Beautifully-appointed and spacious rooms and suites with large balconies and nice downtown views
  • A beautiful rooftop swimming pool
  • Restaurant and bar
  • Complimentary car service runs within 5 miles of the hotel
  • Airport shuttles which stop at the hotel about every 15 to 30 minutes

Brown Palace Hotel

321 Seventeenth Street
Denver, CO 80202
phone: 303.297.3111 or 800.321.2599
fax: 303.312.5900
e-mail: brownpalace@brownpalace.com

For those who would prefer to experience the grandeur of Colorado in a Denver landmark, we thought we'd recommend another option. The Brown Palace is known throughout Denver and Colorado for its beautiful interior and its history. Although the rooms are smaller than the Warwick Hotel's, they are beautiful. The Brown Palace is just one or two blocks away from shopping and restaurants.

Our Favorite Restaurants
The Fort. The Fort is a true Colorado-style restaurant, serving interesting entrees such as buffalo, elk, rattlesnake, and ostrich as well as classics like chicken, salmon, and beef. The Fort hosted the Summit of Eight in 1997 with dignitaries including Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Helmut Kohl and others. This restaurant is about 30 minutes southwest of downtown.
The Flagstaff House. This exquisite restaurant serves wonderful cuisine and has a beautiful view overlooking Boulder. It's known throughout the area for its immpeccable food and service and was voted "Most Romantic Restaurant in Denver". Located about 30 minutes northwest of Denver, in Boulder. This is also the location where Paul proposed!
Buca di Beppo. One of the best chain Italian restaurants. This is a great place for groups since they serve family style (huge portions to share). Try the Chicken Marsala, Chicken Saltimbocca (our favorite), or any of their specials. This restaurant is in Downtown Denver.
